3 Day Cleanse Experience

On Monday, I embarked on the Shakeology 3 day cleanse. I had tried this before but only got through 2 days and didn't really follow it to a tee. This time I decided I'd go for it and finish the three days. After the three days I am happy to report that I lost 6 lbs...plus, I really didn't follow the plan exactly as outlined. Maybe I could've lost more if I did but I'm happy with the results.

The plan calls for 3 shakes per day mixed with water, 2 cups of green or detox tea, 1 piece of fruit, a dinner salad with fish or chicken and 2 T dressing. I added a handful of dry roasted almonds on all three days as well as ate other fresh veggies and probably 2-3 servings of fruit per day instead of just 1.
Monday was the roughest day because I didn't have my morning coffee and felt kinda hungry throughout the day. I was able to do a workout on each day but not to the level of intensity I am used to but still feel good about it. Tuesday was better and then Wednesday I was able to resist the temptation of pizza and fresh brownies at my daughters playdate. After the playdate I rewarded myself with a chocolate shakeology mixed with water and a handful of almonds blended together. It was awesome. For dinner each night I had a green salad topped with grilled chicken, diced red peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers with fat free raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Thinking back on the experience, I can only recall having 2 shakes on 2 of the days....only because I didn't feel hungry enough after dinner and opted to have fresh veggies or a fruit in the afternoon between lunch and dinner. And yesterday I only had one cup of hot tea. These are the teas I used:

Overall the experience was a good one and I will probably do it again in a month or two. Since this is not a drastic cleanse, its something that can be done monthly, specifically during a recovery phase of your workout routine. More on that later.
